Posted on December 12, 2007 - Filed Under Media

Hmm… from now on, any non-related rabbit post will be tagged with NotCarrot in the title. Or perhaps OffTopic sounds better. Let us know ok?

Our new little friend here have big ears too, just like BitBit and it hops around on sand.
Here’s a little snippet taken from LifeLeak’s site.

A rare creature has been caught on camera for what scientists believe is the first time in Mongolia’s Gobi desert.
First footage of a long-eared jerboa.

An “extraordinary” desert creature has been caught on camera for what scientists believe is the first time.

The long-eared jerboa, a tiny nocturnal mammal that is dwarfed by its enormous ears, can be found in deserts in Mongolia and China.

Zoological Society of London (ZSL) scientist Jonathan Baillie said the footage was helping researchers to learn more about the mysterious animal.

The species is classified as endangered on the IUCN Red list.

Bunny Attack!

Posted on December 7, 2007 - Filed Under BitBit, Bunny Care

December 1, 2007: I happily brought Bitbit home since my bf was away to Ipoh. Thought Bitbit would enjoy spending a weekend at my place with some companion…Meow meow and Johny. Meow meow is my family’s dog and Johny is a rabbit actually. He belongs to my sis. My sis doesn’t care much about him. He is kept inside the cage all the time. Bitbit used to be his mate sometime back before he moved to stay with my bf. After being apart for so long, Johny must be happy to see Bitbit. But I was wrong. The moment Bitbit went near to his cage to say ‘Hi’, Johny started to roar. In a blink of eyes, he bite Bitbit’s ear. Unbelievable! Johny attacked Bitbit from his cage. I was there screaming for Johny to let go. Bibit jumped madly. Johny released his ear after a while. Oh my god! His ear was bleeding. I hugged him tight and took him away. He was motionless. Luckily the wound is not big. I wiped off the blood with tissue and then applied some antiseptic cream onto the wound. Pity Bitbit!!

Prestige Nature - Cuni Nature

Posted on December 5, 2007 - Filed Under Bunny Care

Yup this is Bit Bit’s current fave food. Coming all the way from Belgium, it’s by Versele-Laga.
Taken from Versele-Laga’s website.

Cuni Nature is a complete diet for (dwarf) rabbits, carefully composed with selected natural ingredients and enriched with fresh harvested alfalfa and herbs. Alfalfa is rich in proteins and fibres; that guarantees an improved intestinal activity, a better digestion and an optimal condition. Lightly flaked, dried and extruded vegetables and herbs are a real delicacy for your (dwarf) rabbits as it encourages an optimal ingestion of the food.
Cuni Nature is composed with 14 different components, contains all necessary amino-acids, minerals and trace-elements, is specially adapted to the specific nutritive needs of (dwarf) rabbits.

He loves it especially the green polo ones. He always finish that first. Then only moves on to the smaller ones. The pellets… he don’t touch at all. It’s usual pricing is RM20.30 available at major pet shops but the ones we bought so far comes with discount of around 10% which averages around RM17+. Bit Bit even recognizes the packaging and will always chase after it. We would drag it around and Bit Bit will be scampering behind. Haha… he even humps it. Will post a video of soon.

Rabbit Mama for Kittens

Posted on November 26, 2007 - Filed Under Media

Found this piece of news. Wonder how Bit Bit will react if he has several kittens going after him calling papa. Haha…

Six kittens abandoned by their mum have found an unlikely replacement - a pet rabbit.
The tiny kittens were left all alone after their mum decided she couldn’t be bothered feeding them.

They were taken in by veterinary nurse Melanie Humble, who thought her own cat would mother them. But instead they’re being cared for by her rabbit Summer.
Now, they’ve fallen in love with their surrogate mum and refuse to leave her alone.
Melanie, 29, from Aberdeen, said: “It’s amazing to see. For some reason they just took to the rabbit instantly and thought she was their mum.

“They started climbing all over her and were looking to get milk from her. She just sat there and let them do it. “Now they follow her everywhere. They can’t bear to be without her. They’re all so lovely together.

Japanese Prisoner Bunny Animation

Hoyoyi passed me this delicious and highly addictive animation. No language barrier problem here though it’s from MTVJapan. All action and expect loads of funny antics from these bunnies. It focuses on 2 bunny prisoner and the things that happen in their cell. I have only watched a few episodes and it’s really entertaining. Quality is good. Highly recommended. Try not so skip any episode as it’s linked. Like a tv series. Short post here as I have to get back to it. Enjoy!

Watch it now!

Bitbit’s Day Out

Posted on November 15, 2007 - Filed Under BitBit

November 11, 2007: Cloudy Sunday. My bf dumped me and went for his indoor wall-climbing at Summit. I couldn’t go with him with my newly done manicure. Definitely ‘NO’. Let’s say next week or the following week. Hmmm… I didn’t want to stay at home either. So I decided to take Bitbit out. To where? Not possible to bring him to trim his teeth again. He has just got his teeth trim on Monday. Okay. Then, we just went to the gym. Of course, no pets allow! But I have my way. I put him inside my tote bag and quietly smuggled him into the gym. No one saw him. If someone did, they would’ve just said, “Eeee…wat’s dat? So cute!”. Trust me. I’ve done it so many times. As usual, I left him in the locker and went for my steam bath. After the shower and everything, we set off to Summit to meet my bf.

BitBit’s First Visit to the Doc

Posted on November 9, 2007 - Filed Under Bunny Care

November 5, 2007: It was a cloudy Monday. We had just came back from the Genting and started our way to Puchong immediately. Gotta bring Bitbit to Vet. We couldn’t tolerate with his fur biting habit anymore. The moment his fur grew back, he would start biting them off again. Its not only wrecked his appearance but his health too. Whenever I caught him pulling off his fur, I felt so disturb and sad. I don’t want Bitbit ended up wt a huge fur ball in his stomach. His overgrown tooth some how prohibit him from eating and giving him no choice but to pulling off his fur? I really need to know and get it solved. Hence, I decided to bring him to vet. We arrived at St. Angel after beating through the bad traffic. St. Angel is located at Puchong (behind Tesco). To my surprise, it is kinda big and not terrifying at all. I’ve got good recommendation from my friends too. If you are dog lovers, you can find lots of dog foods and gadgets here. Their pricing is fairly reasonable as well.

After filling up the registration card, we waited for a while before Bitbit was called. We told the vet Bitbit’s problem. Seems like she can’t do anything besides trimming his tooth. According to the vet, Bitbit fur biting problem might due to lots of reasons. His overgrown tooth may be one of the many factors. Then, she checked his ears. His ears are fine. I asked her to do a blood test for Bitbit but she said it was unnecessary. That’s all for Bitbit first visit to vet which cost me MYR 20. At the end, I still couldn’t get the answer that I’ve been looking for.
