2007: A little message for you guys who want to keep a rabbit: Please pay attention on your rabbit dental care. Bitbit is suffering from tooth problem which affects his health. Rabbit teeth are open-rooted, which means they grow continuously throughout their lives. His tooth doesn’t meet properly leading to abnormal growth and eventually encourage the development of sharp edges or points. Sharp tooth edges are painful and can get long enough to cut the tongue, or can cut the inside of the cheeks, causing soft tissue abscesses. This problem started when he was just few months old. Everytime when I reached home, he would bite on his cage and yank to call for attention. Moreover, he was such a choosy rabbit who only eat pellets (insufficient fiber) which unable to properly wear down its teeth. In time, his tooth has grown flat and become unusual. Finally, Bitbit has difficulty eating. His out of shape tooth giving him problem to scoop the pellets from his bowl. Therefore, he would chew up his own fur to feed his empty stomach. Ended up, he looked like a strain rabbit with patches of missing furs. He is still having this problem up till now. I’m planning to bring him to vet for a full check-up and seek advice on his dental issue. Hopefully doc can help!!!

This is the third TV commercial of SONY Bravia and it has a lot of bunnies. They end it with a 30 feet tall red bunny. No, it’s not computer graphics.
A statement by Play-Doh on Sony-Bravia website goes like this:
“The third commercial for Bravia is the most ambitious piece of stop-motion animation ever undertaken. Devised by Fallon and shot over three weeks in New York, the commercial employed 40 animators from Passion and used 2.5 tonnes of modelling material.”
Passion Pictures are the one responsible for the ad. If you are curious how it is done, go to Sony-Bravia website and download the Making of. It’s 24.5Mb though but insightful. Worth watching.

2006: OMG!!! Bitbit was eating lesser and lesser day by day. His droppings has became smaller too. There must be something wrong with him or the pellets. Luckily, he was still active and jumpy. Let’s wait and see! Two weeks has just passed, the situation did not improve at all. Think I better opt for other pellets. Therefore, I bought Hagen Rabbit Pellets at RM 8.50 and fed him. Once he smelt the pellets, he ran away. Not his taste. Shit! I need to shop around again.

This time, I picked Sluis Superior Menu Rabbit Food. I personally like its strong aroma (greenish scent). Sluis rabbit food also contains Omega 3 fatty acids for extra resistance, healthy skin and a shiny coat. Check their website for more info.
It costs me RM 16.50. Then, I bought some treats (corn nuggets and alfalfa) for Bitbit as well. To my relief, he liked it or else I need to source again.

I Hate BitBit

Damn him. Hate him for pulling Houdini’s act on me. It was about an hour ago… the little fellow tried to be funny. I got home from work and was too lazy to go out to have my dinner. Decided to cook instant noodles instead and finish it while watching Criminal Minds. Half way through I realised the BitBit was not in sight. He usually follows me up to the room and sit quietly with his big black eyes gazing at me lovingly curiously.
So I went downstairs to discover that the door was ajar and the gate was wide open. Took a peek at his favourite resting spot, and he wasn’t there. Under the couch, negative. Ran back upstairs… checked the toilets, closet, no, behind the tv, no, on the shelf, no… DAMN!!! SHIT!!! Where the hell could he be? My imagination started to whirl, my heart started playing to punk rock tempos and sweat starts to moisten my crimson tshirt. Puffin would slaughter me alive if I lost BitBit. No time to think of the torture she would unleash upon my battered frame. I need to find BitBit and fast.
Dashed out through the front gate, walking hastily and mindlessly. Heard the dogs barking wildly… shit, am I too late? Cats are a nuisance in my area and that’s not a comforting thought. BitBit has his encounter once and it left him limping for a week and the claw marks are still visible on his ear. God damn it… where is he?
Then my housemate (culprit, he left the door open) pointed to me in the distance, a form somewhat resembled BitBit. Upon closer inspection it is him. So I ran over to him but the little guy tried to escape from my clutches for he was still enjoying his new found freedom. He had also attracted the attention of some guys who was already coming out of the house to look at him. Luckily he stopped and I scooped him up pronto, said thank you to the guys watching and walked hastily home while reprimanding BitBit on his act. Hate BitBit for that stupid stunt. He could have died. And I would be so sad.
He is looking at me with his lovely black eyes again. Nah, I can’t be angry at him for long. He is after all our BitBit.

Brought BitBit to get his teeth trimmed last Saturday and managed to slot in a photo session with the little fellow. The weather was fine with cooling wind and an adventurous rabbit on the loose. BitBit don’t sit still for me, but I still got some nice shots. Here’s his latest pictures.

Bunny, which was the first film to use an advanced ambient lighting technology known as radiosity, set new standards in cinematic storytelling for the computer-animation industry. In addition to winning the Academy Award, Bunny has won more than 25 international awards for animation excellence, including First Prize at the International Children’s Cinema.

The film is about an old Bunny receives a troublesome late-night visitor from the deepest woods-or deeper. A hairy moth, as battered as Bunny, seems to be stalking her. Her attempts to remove it only make the moth more insistent. What is it about this nocturnal pest that stirs her deepest fears and memories? To find out, she must go through an emotional metamorphosis that sheds a whole new light on this quirky but heart-warming tale. http://bunny.blueskystudios.com/bunny_home.html

Written and directed by Chris Wedge, a founding member of Blue Sky Studios, Bunny began as an effort to stretch the limits of the company’s proprietary lighting software, CGI Studio ®. What makes Bunny unique is its warm, photorealistic style that belies the computer technology that made it possible. Using radiosity, an advanced computer rendering technique that mimics the most subtle properties of natural light, Wedge and his crew were able to create a dimensionality and realism never before seen in computer-animation.

Chap 3: Welcome Home

2006: Bitbit has become part of my family now. I placed his cage inside the house. When my parents saw him, they thought Bitbit was sort of weird (and ‘cacat’) with a pair of droopy ears. They have never seen such a rabbit before. He looked like the alien in ET movie to them. Hahaha…..
Feeding him with pellets (provided by the seller) and changing his water had became my daily routine. Every night when I reached home, I would let him out and explore my little house. He liked to hide under the table, chairs and go behind the closet. It was easy to set him free but looking for him round the house wasn’t easy. He was too small to be located and he did not make any sound. Sometimes, when he found the opportunity, he would munch newspaper or tissue. So I have to keep an eye on him all the time…:P

Yum…yum….
Chap 2: Hi, Bitbit!

November 4, 2006: Sunday, I was there again. My mission was to bring Bitbit home. Who is Bitbit? Oh, it was my new rabbit. This name just blurted out from my mouth spontaneously. I had no idea where this name came from but I found it very catchy and appealing to me. So I decided to call my rabbit, Bitbit.
Finally, I had picked the brown ones. Bitbit was about my palm size and he is so cute. I paid another RM 200 for him and the necessary gadgets. Taking the deposit into my calculation, Bitbit cost me RM 250. Anyway, it wasn’t that costly at all because the package inclusive basic vaccination and free lifetime grooming service (hahaha…). Since Bitbit was too small (about 4 weeks) that time, he had not been given any injection. Just like a normal puppy or kitten, an injection can only be done only when he was big enough.

Found this all bunnies production. Apparently it’s rated Mature Content which means the videos are NOT suitable for all ages. If you are over 18 and have too much time to spare, then go watch the bunnies as they deliver you fresh parodies from Star Wars to Kill Bill. The animated rabbits will only take about 90 seconds of your time max. Here’s a screenshot of one of the spoof movie.
Watch it on Starz Bunnies.

Arrrr….

And you thought you had seen it all. Thank God, Bit Bit has nearly reached his adult size.

This is Herman the rabbit of Flemish Giant breed. Herman is not the biggest rabbit around, he was beaten to it by another by the name of Rudi in “Berlin’s Biggest Bunny” contest. Supersized Herman needs about 2kg of food daily, and hell if Bit Bit needs so much to eat, he might as well be a carnivore and eat me alive. Could easily gnawed through my wallet with that kind of appetite.
Herman has MySpace. Drop by and give him a virtual feet tickle. He likes it.
Read the comments about him here (World’s Largest Rabbit) , where disputes of him being a result of lousy photoshop skills flies.
